Jason's Favorite Things:

Most Respected Driver:  Ricky Rudd and Harry Gant
Hobbies:  Saltwater Fishing, riding jet-skis, riding four-wheelers, boating
Hero:  "I can't say that I have one hero. My family has always been there for me. They are my biggest supporters and if it weren't for their years of hard work, I would not be doing what makes me the happiest and that is driving a race car."
Most Embarassing Moment to Date:  "I will have to name a few: Running into the back of another car during the pace laps ni my second race in a stock car.  The Most embarassing has to be not making the Richmond Busch race."
Most Memorable Moment:  "Would have to be winning my first Late Model Stock Car race.  There is nothing better than the first one!"
Childhood Jobs:  "I have been piddling around at my family's salvage yard ever since I was a toddler. I worked briefly at a company in Newport News, Va. that made high tech products for industry, as well as the components that allow engineers to collect the data at the Langley full-scale wind tunnel, where some Winston Cup and Busch teams go to test aerodynamics. I have been working on race cars full-time since 1996."

Jason's Quotes:

"If I weren't in racing I would want to be in the medical field and build hot rods on the side" Jason says. "Ricky (Rudd) has helped me by letting me stay at his shop for the better part of last summer. I learned a lot about the technical side of the sport. I went to tests at different tracks as well as wind tunnel tests. He also helped us with some parts to get our first Busch car ready to test last year."

"I decided that racing was what I wanted to do as soon as I was old enough to realize that people had to do something for a career. I was five or six years old when my dad took me to my first race at Richmond Fairgrounds." According to Jason, "I have never really had much interest in anything else. I tried soccer for a couple of years, but my heart wasn't in it and I am not the type of person to do something that I'm not really focused on."

"Right now, I would love to get a chance at a ride in pretty much any type of car or truck, preferably a Busch, Craftsman Truck or Arca team."

Jason Rudd Racing History

In 1987 Jason began his racing career, driving Sprint Karts and won three local championships.

At the age of 12, in 1991, Jason drove Enduro Karts. His circuit included Charlotte Motor Speedway, Daytona International Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, North Carolina Motor Speedway, and Road America in Wisconsin. Jason won the World Karting National Championship traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph.

In 1996, Jason won semi-pro championship for the Mid Atlantic Region driving Legend cars on a variety of tracks in Virginia and North Carolina.

Jason was the only NASCAR late model stock car driver in 1997 selected as "Rookie of the Year" and Sportsman of the Year" at Langley Motor Speedway in Hampton, Virginia. He posted over seventeen top-ten finishes that year including an impressive seventh-place finish at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Virginia.

1998 saw Jason racing a late model stock car at Myrtle Beach Speedway in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He started on the pole and had an impressive second-place finish. During this year, Jason also posted several top-five finishes at South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Virginia and also Southampton Motor Speedway in Capron, Virginia. On August 29th, 1998 Jason had his first victory as a LMS driver starting on the pole and leading every lap.

Practicing in a Busch car was how Jason spent most of his time in 1999. He tested at several tracks including the USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida, Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Virginia, Greenville Pickens in Greenville, South Carolina and Bristol Motor Speedway. Because of the amount of time he spent testing in 1999, Jason ran a very limited schedule at his home track.

In 2000, Jason ran a full schedule at Southampton Motor Speedway and proceeded to finish second in points for the year. This accomplishment is more impressive in light of the fact that he drove with a big-spring chassis as opposed to a coil-over chassis. He was the only driver at Southampton to use this type of chassis with the idea in mind of a smooth transition into Busch ranks. Southampton Motor Speedway is a newly paved 4/10 mile, high-banked tri-oval and is part of NASCAR's Atlantic Seaboard Region. The SMS configuration is very much like Richmond International Raceway with it's dogleg on the front stretch and the high banks in the corners. SMS has 12 degree banking in the turns, 9 degrees on the back stretch and 6 degrees on the front stretch. The Late Model Stock Cars average over 96 mph in qualifying.
